Mike Zeck Exclusive Punisher #1 Variant!

Yep,.. Above and beyond the Punisher #1 "incentive variant" (with my cover art) which Marvel will ship to qualifying retailers, I'll have my own exclusive Punisher #1 variant cover limited to 3,000 copies. Here's a look...

If you follow this stuff, you might know that Marvel has recently begun to locate images which haven't yet been published or at least not used for covers, then remastering the art and creating variant covers. They've already gone back to one of my plates from a 1983 portfolio, published by Editions Deesse in France, to use as a variant cover for Captain America #1. Editions Deesse also published two Punisher portfolios featuring my art. Marvel will pick from those and create remastered incentive variants for the first 5 issue story arc of the newly renumbered Punisher series.

The above art for my exclusive variant is a piece that I penciled sometime in the 80s and then set it aside. I pulled it out again in the 90s and inked it, and then set it aside again. Until now! I think Punisher #1 exclusive variant is an appropriate place for it to finally see print.

I have another Punisher piece which I'd like to see as a cover, so a Punisher #2 exclusive variant is likely? Punisher #3...??... Haven't decided although I can think of one other unpublished piece that would work??

"How can I get one?"

( 1 ) On August 22, the on-sale date for Punisher #1, or very soon after that, I'll make the variant available on my SHOP page. I'll still have my $50 minimum order request so order a few or order in any combination of books and prints. If you're interested in a large quantity of variants, you're welcome to email me first.

( 2 ) I'll of course have a limited supply with me at conventions. With the timing of the release, it appears that the Cincinnati Comic Expo will be the first stop where I'll be offering signed exclusive variants. Good time for a reminder to check my Convention Schedule page to see if I'm going to be in your area. And if you haven't stopped by my table yet at a Con, check the Convention FAQ page where you'll find answers to most questions.

BTW... If you haven't yet seen the Marvel incentive variant featuring art from Punisher Portfolio One, check it out at left.

A Rare Pause to Update the Site!

TEASE --> Check back in a couple of days when I plan to post an announcement of interest. Well,.. interesting to me at least!

I actually reduced my convention travel this year to enjoy a little personal time but Warner Bros had different plans for me. The success of the "Rebirth" characters at DC Comics prompted WB Consumer Products to plan a sizeable Style Guide featuring those character and villains in order to fulfill requests to place them on licensed merchandise. I'll just say it consumed every day that I wasn't on the road and I'm entering the latter half of 2018 still looking for that elusive personal time.

Travel-wise,.. I purposefully mixed in some smaller or medium sized shows in smaller towns this year. My previous experience with those is that I meet some incredibly nice promoters who are comics fans at heart, I meet some incredibly nice families coming through the doors, I meet some incredibly nice folks in the community, and I get to sit in a mostly comics-centric show, minus the long lines waiting for celebrity photo ops. My preferred atmosphere :-)

My first 2018 outing was anything but small though. Congrats to the ACE Comic Con crew for introducing arena-based events and actually pulling it off. Wasn't quite sure what to expect at ACE Arizona but I left well-impressed! Good luck with the future events, guys.

Followed ACE though with some of those comics-centric shows I mentioned above,.. the North Texas Comic Book Show, the Huntsville Comic and Pop Culture Expo, South Carolina Comicon, and Cape Comic Con. A whole lot of southern hospitality and a whole lot of enjoyment. All are recommended!

East Coast Comic Con is definitely not a small show and it mounts a totally impressive comics guest list every year, but it still remains a true comic con. My favorite event to mix it up with New York area fans.

I returned to Tidewater Comic Con in May because it just keeps getting better, and to Buffalo shortly after because Nickel City Comic Con puts on a top-rate event. I knew what to expect at Phoenix Fan Fusion,.. enhanced security thanks to that one dopey attendee last year. Happy to see that they managed to get the massive crowd in and out fairly seamlessly though. Hopefully returning there soon.

June saw me back in the Big Easy for Mighty Con New Orleans, back to the rare air of Colorado for the big Denver Comic Con, and traveling to the fields of Kansas for the Smallville Comic Con. So glad to visit Hutchinson KS and experience what Jon, his wife, and their extended family and friends have created with the Smallville show. A unique event in so many ways and a terrific memory.

Big thumbs up to the Youngstown Comic Con earlier this month! I'll just say that Steranko and I both have Greg's Youngstown show high on our favorite events list and let you figure out if you should try it out or not. In other words,.. yes,.. go.

I'll post a small gallery of select pics from some of these shows. Mouse over images to see descriptions.

International customers can now purchase AND checkout on the SHOP page

I hope that's the case since I've only just created that option!? I'm trying to keep flat rates in place. The breakdown at this point is the same $12 shipping and handling (USPS Priority) here in the US, $18 shipping and handling (USPS First Class International Package) to Canada, and $24 shipping and handling (USPS First Class International Package) to all countries outside of the US and Canada.

It's largely untested at this point so If you order from outside the US and run into any problems, please let me know. Visit the SHOP.

A few site updates to mention...

Trying a different template.

Finally added some more images which were on the Checklist page of my previous site. Under the OTHER ART menu, you'll find galleries from publishers other than Marvel and DC as well as a sample gallery of past commissions.

As soon as I'm announced for a convention, I get a number of emails asking mostly the same questions. Under the INFO menu, I've posted a Convention FAQ page that will hopefully answer most of those questions.

I have Grand Rapids Comic Con coming up this month and La Mole in Mexico City coming up next month. Now I've tacked on Fan Expo Vancouver! I've spent a lot of time with the Fan Expo family this year in Dallas, Orlando, Boston, and Toronto. Makes sense to finish my travel year with that same family. That's shaping up to be a great show, Vancouver is always a nice place to visit,.. so hope to see you there.

Remember to check my Convention Schedule page from time to time for updates. I'll be adding dates in 2018 during the coming months.

Convention List Update

A few weeks back I added a couple more shows to the 2017 schedule and today, a couple more again. Namely Louisiana Comic Con: Lafayette (I've never been to Lafayette and it's been about 3 years since my last Louisiana show.) and La Mole, Mexico City. (Never been there either.)

Check my convention list from time to time for additions or updates and be sure to come visit if I'm in your neighborhood.

Over My Shoulder, Raleigh Super Con

The folks in Raleigh were apparently ready for this type of convention. They turned out in great numbers last week and something near capacity on Saturday. Major success for an inaugural show. Congrats to the SuperCon crew for the success and for a professionally run event.

And thanks to Victoria for remembering to snap a few pics while managing the table.
