G. I. JOE COVERS AND INTERIOR
G. I. Joe characters are trademarks of Hasbro, Inc.

----G. I. Joe issues 20 and 21 contain a two-part story. I've created the cover art for issue 20 (shipped in early August), and the cover art as well as penciling the interior for issue 21 (shipped last week of August).
----
John Beatty, who inked many of my G. I. Joe covers during the 80s, inked the interior pages for issue 21. Click the links below to view a four-page sample sequence.

----When the issue 20 and 21 covers are place together, they'll create one scene, so I'm creating the art for both at the same time, and rendering it on the same board.

----Next step was a loose sketch for editorial approval. (Left half would be cover 20; right half - cover 21)
----Covers 20/21 sketch
----The consensus at
Devil's Due was that Billy should move to Snake Eyes' side, and Cobra Commander should be added to the Stormshadow side. That meant that Kamakura would be deleted, but it made for a better "good vs. evil" scenario when the art was combined. I created the next prelims on separate sheets; the cover 20 figures on one...

and the cover 21 figures on another...

----For the final prelim, I was able to move and/or alter the figures as I saw fit. I also added the flying, high-tech debris among the clashing figures.

final art is a large 20.5 X 16 in.
